Uganda National Commission for UNESCO is organisng ESD policy Validation workshop schedule to take place on the 1st of August, 2016, at Silver Springs Hotel, Bugolobi.
Key amount the subject of debate is the current state  of Education in Uganda, relevancy of the current curriculum, Incoporation of ESD into our curriculum, Global Action Programme (GAP), Agenda  2030 and other key important areas.
In, 2005, the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development was \r\nlaunched to enhance the role of education in promoting sustainable \r\ndevelopment in 2013, the 37th session of the general conference of \r\nunesco endorsed the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD as follow up to\r\n the Decade. The GAP was launched  at the UNESCO World Conference on \r\nEducation for Sustainable Development held on the 10-12 November 2014 in\r\n Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. By Ogal Vincent.

2016 YOUTH CITIZEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP COMPETITION

UNATCOM/CECOD Sign a Memorandum of Understanding on ESD:

The Uganda\r\nNational Commission for UNESCO (UNATCOM)   and  \r\nthe Conservation Efforts for Community Development (CECOD)  on 12th January 2016, signed a\r\nMemorandum of Understanding establishing partnership to promote Education for\r\nSustainable Development(ESD) in Uganda.

The MoU enjoins    the two organizations to cooperate in\r\nensuring the implementation of Global Action Program (GAP) on Education for Sustainable\r\nDevelopment (ESD) through ECO-Schools in Uganda and also to work jointly any\r\nother national development programmes that enhance social transformation,\r\nenvironmental sustainability and economic development for a sustainable future.

Director-General awards first UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development.

the director general of unesco, Irina Bokova awarded the UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to Association SERES from Guatemala and El Salvador, Jayagiri center from Indonesia in a ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 5 November.

Launch of Global Coalition "Unite for Heritage" in Bonn

 Bonn, 29 June- the Director general of unesco, Irina Bokova, today launched the Global Coalition, united for heritage,during the 39th session of the world heritage committee meeting in Bonn, Germany.
the coalition is to strengthen the nobalisation of governments and all heritage stakeholders in face of deliberate damage to cultural heritage, particularly in the middle east.


Cultural Programme, April 2015

UNATCOM's Culture Programme under Daniel Kaweesi organized Consultation Workshops in Mbale, Gulu and Mbarara. The Workshops addressed the situation of Uganda's museum sector and possible ways of improvement. For that reason, participants from local government, universities as well as cultural institutions were asked to articulate their concerns about Uganda's museum area and to think about ideas for a better development.

Out-of-school numbers rise as aid to education falls short of 2010 levels

A new study shows that the number of children and adolescents who are \r\nout of school is on the rise, and grew to 124 million in 2013. \r\nInternational aid to education remains below 2010 levels and is grossly \r\ninsufficient to meet new education targets to achieve universal primary \r\nand secondary education
